Our Catholic Youth Organization provides the youth of this Parish the opportunity to practice Christian attitudes and responsibilities while developing the athletic skills and abilities that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.

We are currently looking for:

CYO SPORTS COORDINATOR! We are actively seeking an individual to manage our CYO Sports Program. Individual need only have basic email skills, good phone skills, super people skills and the desire to help keep the children of St. John active in sports! Please contact Heath McArthur (hmcarthur@stjohnscyosports.org) for more information.

BASKETBALL: Coaches & Assistant Coaches, Equipment Manager, Sign-Up / Forms Manager, Team-Photo Coordinator. If you are a returning coach – please let us know ASAP!

SPORTS BANQUET: We need a handful of volunteers to help pull together / orchestrate / and put on our annual athlete recognition sports banquet

FUNDRAISING!!: We need several individuals to help manage our fund raising projects during the year. The entrance/participation fees we collect from our athletes only covers about 80% of what we pay to the Diocese each year. We also have the additional costs of equipment, uniforms, medical kits, misc. supplies, and the occasional “large” project (i.e., the CYO provided the basketball backboards/rims/nets in the multi-purpose room!) that arises. We try to keep player contribution at a minimum – we can’t exist without additional funds!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FALL ACTIVITIES
Tennis: Meets being Sunday September 28 and run through November 2nd. Championships will be held November 9th.
Match play on Sunday afternoons from either 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 –5:00 p.m.
Fall Track Meet: NVJCYO Track Meet at Falls Church High School. 3rd & 4th Grades Sat. 5 - 8 Grades Sunday
Cross Country Meet: Tentatively Sunday November 2nd - tbd. Burke Lake Park
2008 - 2009 Basketball: Opening Day - December 6th!
